I Pretended To Be a Member of the Press and Emailed MLM Executives

If you aren’t aware of what a MultiLevel Marketing company is yet, it’s basically a pyramid scheme + direct selling. Pyramid schemes are illegal, so the workaround is that they have people sell products in addition to pyramid scheming. The products are usually heavily overpriced and sometimes defective.

A pyramid scheme is when the only way you can make money is recruiting other people to join you. The only people who get rich are the people at the top of the pyramid.

These companies waste a lot of people’s time and energy and prey on people who are dreaming to get out of the 9 to 5 cycle or yearning to start their own business.

So I started emailing their top level executives memes I made of them and signing my name as Jackie Jones, Press Relations for Coloradoan Times.

I started with the VP of Corporate Affairs at Herbalife:

Since we loving and appreciating INTHAF today, here are some things I’ve noticed:

  • The lyrics don’t talk about one linear story but moments when those feelings are evoked
  • The first part introduces those feelings (sharing gloves, playing video games, passing notes)
  • The second part finds them again much later in the beginnings of love (the nerve to touch my hand which ties back to the gloves, twenty questions which ties back to video games, conversation which ties back to notes), this person stirs feelings just as pure and true as the ones found in the innocent discoveries of childhood
    • The change from snow to a clear light pink sky shows the change in time and both literal and metaphorical season
  • The third part realizes these feelings in true love (sidewalk chalk covered in snow and rice on the ground looks like snow)
  • True love brings back the whimsy and sweetness we thought could only be found in childhood :’)
  • The simplicity of the writing and music are genius bc they reiterate those points as well as emphasize how simple true love is at its core (a theme found throughout Lover in general)

This is so amazing, thank you for putting so much thought into the lyrics and imagery- I love how creative and observant and introspective this is and honestly I didn’t know if it’s nice to have a friend would ever get a full in depth analysis when I wrote it because it’s so simple, but it sure is *nice* of you 😊

Afterglow stans where u at?

Afterglow is not getting the attention she deserves ok *rolls up sleeves*

  • When you start a fight in a relationship and you rationally know that there's literally no need to do it but DAMN IN THAT MOMENT YOU SCREW THINGS UP
  • Pride is a BIG part of this
  • When you start the fight sometimes you feel like you can't go back and you need to go on but again there's no rational need
  • You blame them for things that exists just in your head and just for that little span of time
  • You overreact, cry, scream, leave them no opportunity to defend themselves
  • The storm is over and you realize how much you made your lover suffer, you see his/her disappointment, their sadness
  • YOU REALIZE THAT YOU MESSED UP BIG TIME and you ask yourself why WHY DO I ALWAYS DO THIS? I LOVE HIM/HER I CAN'T LET HER GO
  • You leave all your pride and stupid reasons behind and all you can focus on is HOW DO I MAKE THIS RIGHT because you think you burned everything down
  • You open your heart to them and tell them "hey I know this is on me, please, I'm begging you, STAY. Even if sometimes I hurt you, if I react like this, what we have is more important than my stupid behavior"
  • Basically the fight once was between you two has now turned into the fight for your love, to keep what you have and

Taylor Swift has the power to represent all of this into a song and I really love that she includes not only the "rainbow and pastel" kind of love but also the "hey I'm not perfect, i screw up, will you still love me?" kind of love.
